DIY All-In-One Nursing and Car Seat Cover

Today I found myself making plans to venture out with my newborn and realized I still need a nursing cover and a car seat cover. So I did what I always do and started searching Pinterest. I found a great tutorial and am very pleased with how mine turned out.

This is a great beginner level project. It was my first time sewing with jersey knit and I found it very forgiving. Jersey won’t fray so no hemming is required if you are in a hurry like I was. I do plan on hemming the edges later on when I have more time.

This project uses 1 yard of stretchy jersey fabric. I didn’t have a single 1 yard piece. I ended up using two 1/2 yard pieces that I had in my stash. I used a grey chevron for the top and a navy chevron for the bottom band. You want a fabric with multi-directional stretch. Find a pattern you like on sale or see what you have on hand. You could use a different fabric for each piece for a fun look too.

In leu of documenting my steps (because I have a newborn and no time) I’ll give credit where credit is due and share the tutorial I used. Hop on over to do it yourself divas and try their great tutorial for yourself. Click their image below to get started!
